ColdBox Helps Government Rape Awareness Campaign

The start of several Government projects including a mobile application that helps teenagers become more aware of what constitutes as rape and how to get support was launched today. The applications both mobile and web needed a fast and reliable approach. After a short debate the development team including myself decided to use the ColdBox Framework by Luis Majano along with jQTouch (A jQuery plugin for mobile web development) we first heard about on a CF Podcast (CFHour).
The first campaign is using a version of Gencia's new survey based system written with the ColdBox framework. It's designed for Schools allowing them to create both mobile and web campaigns which then local authorities get live statistical data on how each area is doing including detailed analyse of changes in patterns of behaviour.
As Gencia may be about trial several larger systems across the UK, Gencia certainly seems to be raising awareness of an important message and the profile ColdFusion within the UK.
When I joined the team as a senior developer I was surprised just how much Gencia Media is using ColdFusion to power some of the largest companies in the UK. Having already also run my own small development firm for 4 years I always found it hard to push CF to small companies, but at Gencia I don't have justify using ColdFusion. Argos, Homebase, CO-OP, Carphone Warehouse, Orange and Virgin are just some of Genica's clients all using systems developed in CF over the last 8 years .
This project is the first large project I have had the pleasure of working on whilst at Gencia, hopefully there are lots more to come.
Gencia is doing a lot of work within the ColdFusion community but never promotes just how much. My hope is to start regularly write-ups on just what they are doing, this being the first.
