Web Design Methodology My Opinion

The apparent new elements of search engine optimisation and ethical web principles are already shaping the still fairly young web development industry methods upside down.

It's evidential now more than ever, web design is a task that requires many different professional skills. Fashionable web application methodologies even the ones reported on this site have obvious lack of consistency. “Web site development is usually carried out without following well defined processes”. - Coda et al. Standing (2002, p. 159) states that “There is a perception that both the academic and practitioner worlds are in a post-methodology era. This has resulted in the disillusionment with traditional information systems development methodologies.” In just over 15 years, the web industry has created a pick-n-mix set of OO and extendable web methodologies for a demanding sector.

Although the web application methodologies I have discussed deal with many aspects of the design (analyse, design, prototyping, testing and implementation) none were exclusively developed for search engine analyse and good design practice.

Instead, developers use in-house or add-on methodologies before implementation of a web methodology.
